Redback A4580 16 Zone Paging System Switch Box :: A4580

The Redback Communicator is a paging system controller utilising the latest microprocessor circuitry that allows for both 100V line level or low level balanced line signals to be switched. Incredibly flexible and expandable, the Redback communicator is the result of many years development with direct feedback from pro sound contractors.

Ideal for paging and background music (BGM) control in large scale PA systems up to 16 zones (expandable to 32 zones with the addition of a second A 4580), such as schools, factories, shopping centres, airports, hotels, sporting venues and large corporate buildings.

The A 4580 is a central paging system control hub housing the switching circuitry. Background music is selectable on or off to any zone via the selection switches on the front panel.

When combined with the A 4660 paging console, each zone may be paged either individually or together with the use of the All-Call function. A macro function is also provided to enable the user to program a button for one touch operation of multiple zones. Up to 8 paging consoles can be connected across 4 circuits (max 2 per circuit).

Note: Power injectors (Redback A 4658) may be required when there are more than four paging consoles connected to the system, or for long cable runs.

The A 4580 also interfaces with the Redback A 4565B Alert/Evac controller to allow industry standard tones to be played in all zones when activated via the EVAC Input on the rear panel. This input could also be used for telephone paging

When used in 100V level configuration the system can be used with 1 or 2 amplifiers. BGM and paging can be distributed to any zone as desired. However, BGM will be interrupted to all zones when paging to any zone. When separate PA and BGM amplifiers are used, paging can be selected without interrupting BGM to remaining zones.

When used in low level balanced line configuration the system can be used with individual amplifiers in each zone. Enabling each zone speaker circuit to receive individual music program and local paging sources. The microphone consoles can page each zone amplifier as required.

A 4660 Microphone console

The system can accommodate up to 8 paging consoles on 4 individual circuits, with a maximum of 2 consoles per circuit. This console is capable of operating 4 to 32 zones (in multiples of 4 zones), with zones 17-32 only available with the addition of a second A 4580 communicator. Zones can be locked out if not required or to block access by users.

Pre announcement and post announcement internal or MP3 based chime/messages are available, if selected via the console menu interface.

Active zones are illuminated when selected, and cancelling a selected zone can be achieved by pressing the zone switch again, via the cancel switch or automatically if not used after approximately 10 seconds.

A busy indicator is standard on all microphone consoles to indicate when the system is in use by another user.

Output zones and an installer label can be custom labelled via the console menu interface.

Redback MP3/MicroSD Tone Generator & Message Player Module :: A1720B

The A 1720B is an MP3 based message player and tone generator designed for public address, security, customer direction or emergency evacuation announcements. When combined with a Redback A 1707 timer it can play announcements at prescribed times for in-store advertising and customer notification.

It allows up to 8 custom MP3 tracks plus standard alert and evacuation tones. A library of commonly used tones, messages and phrases are provided on a Micro SD card. Custom MP3 tones, music etc may be added as desired.

The Micro SD card is preloaded with 8 standard tones, including bell, bing bong, siren and pre-announcement chime, plus Australian Standard alert and evacuation tones (complying to AS1670.4). To comply with Australian Standards for evacuation tones, a custom message may be played after every fourth cycle providing evacuation instructions to occupants.

Alert tones can be automatically switched to evacuation tones after a set period (adjustable between 30 and 240 seconds).

Playback for each track can be activated by a closing set of contacts. Contacts may be configured between alternate or momentary action. This can include or exclude alert &evacuation tones as desired. Cancel contacts are provided to stop playback of tracks.

Redback 2 Input Mini Mixer With Vox Muting :: A4911

This compact 2 input mixer which accepts either a line level signal or balanced microphone signal for each input. The output signal is suitable for feeding an amplifier with either a line level input or balanced microphone input. Input one will vox mute input 2. Redback Paging Microphone Console To Suit A4480B Matrix Switcher :: A4481

The A 4481 paging console is an extremely flexible addition to the A 4480B audio switcher. The consoles can be used for multi zone paging with the facility to store and recall multiple zones to a single button. The recall functions can also be labelled via a USB keyboard which can be plugged into the rear of the unit. The labels will then be displayed on the highly functional and attractive LCD. An example might be a label sales. An emergency paging over-ride facility is accessed by a combination of an illuminated push button switch and a PTT (push to talk) switch. This combination removes the possibility of accidentally activating the emergency over-ride facility. When activated, emergency paging will be forced through to all zones regardless of any zones which were set to be locked out. A maximum of 8 paging consoles can be connected to the A 4480B at the same time. These work on a first in, best dressed arrangement. The consoles can be cascaded together or wired back to the A 4480B. Each unit must be assigned an ID number through DIP switch settings on the rear of the unit. A pre-announcement chime is available at the paging console and through the PA system. Both of these are set by DIP switches on the rear of the unit.

Preset Operation
Six user presets are provided for recalling regularly used configurations. Presets one to four are user programmable and can be recalled at any time. Preset five is last setting prior to a preset being loaded. This is an easy way to revert to a previous system setting. Preset six is a backup of the initial system configuration. Presets may be selected from the front panel or remotely by the A 4476 preset selection wallplate.

Input and Output Operation
The system can be configured with up to 8 zone paging consoles, 8 local zone inputs, 1 emergency paging input, 1 alert/evac input, and 8 auxiliary audio source inputs. Each auxiliary input has selectable sensitivity - 0.3 to 0.7V.
Auxiliary inputs can be switched to any zone or combination of zones. Each auxiliary input has a volume, treble and bass control, plus a signal presence indicator. A programmable display indicates which input is selected to which outputs.

For remote selection of auxiliary inputs the A 4475 wallplate may be connected via Cat 5 cable to each zone (max 1 per zone). This wallplate enables selection of any auxiliary source, plus local level adjustment.

A local input wallplate (A 4478) can be placed in each zone for connection to a local mic or line audio source. This wallplate connects to the A 4475 program selection wallplate.

Tamper proof volume controls and signal presence indicators are provided for emergency paging and alert/evac signals. Closing contacts activate alert/evac signal.

Volume controls are provided for each output. All 8 outputs consist of 3 pin balanced line level XLRs.

Program Isolate
This function allows blocking of selected RCAinput audio sources to selected zones. This does not affect paging or tones.

Priority Muting Operation
A priority muting system ensures appropriate signals are routed to zones depending on the condition of the system. For example in emergency paging mode, all inputs, including alert/evac signals are muted for live emergency announcements through the paging microphone. In alert/evac mode all inputs are muted so that tones and recorded messages may be played in all zones.

When a local input is connected, via optional A 4478 wallplate, any auxiliary source being played in that zone will be muted. In zone paging mode auxiliary signals will be muted for transmission to the selected zone. To prevent unwanted interruptions during functions or events, zone paging may be prohibited from the front panel via the PAon/off function.

Redback 4x4 Audio Source Matrix Mixer Switch :: A4450

Feature packed yet simple to set up and use, this mixer pairs with easy to use wallplate controllers. With 4 inputs selectable to up to 4 zones it is ideally suited to gyms, cafes, restaurants, small clubs and function centres.

Designed with end users in mind, this complete audio source controller for buildings and venues provides source selection and level control from remotely located wallplate controllers located up to 300m from the main unit. Multiple inputs can be selected/mixed to a zone as desired. The controller offers a visual indication of which input is selected to which output on the front panel LCD and illuminated controls.

It accepts both balanced mic (pluggable screw terminals) and line level signals (stereo RCA) for four audio sources and switches them to matching individual zone outputs. Any or all inputs can be switched to any and all output zones.

For added convenience all inputs and output zones can be labelled for display on the LCD. This allows users to quickly see the source playing in each zone.

A total of 8 remotes can be used on the system. Maximum of 2 plates per cable run. The A4660 paging console can be used as a master plate.

When connected to the A 4450, the optional A 4461/63 master selector wallplate enables full control of the whole system, including selection of input sources and level control in each zone. Multiple inputs can be selected/mixed to a zone. Volume level of each input can be adjusted up or down, independently of other inputs. A smaller zone wallplate (A4462/64) provides control of source selection and level control within that zone only. These plates can be wired back to the A 4450 using Cat5/6 UTP cabling. A maximum of 4 local zone wallplates can be used in a system, plus one master wallplate.

4 Channel Public Address (PA) Mixer With MP3 Message Player

The A4435 is a unique Redback PA mixer features four input channels which are user selectable for either balanced mic, line or auxiliary use. In addition it incorporates a four channel micro SD card based message player making it an excellent choice for retail, supermarkets, hardware stores and more. The mixer could be used for general paging and BGM applications; and the message player for customer service applications, in-store advertising or for pre-recorded commentary at galleries, display stands etc.

The message player and each input all have individual level, treble and bass controls. Vox muting is provided for channels one and two with front panel adjustable sensitivity. The message player has priority and slots in between input one and two. Custom messages, tones and music may be loaded onto the message player micro SD card. The messages are activated by a closing set of contacts. If input one is active when a message contact is closed, the message is queued and played once input one is no longer in use. Messages are played on a first in, best dressed (FIBD) basis, and will also be queued if one message is playing and another is activated. Input four is also fitted with a 3.5mm jack input for connection to a smartphone/tablet as an audio source. When connected, this overrides any source connected to input 4 on the rear panel. Each input has a 3 pin XLR (2mV) and stereo RCA socket with adjustable sensitivity settings. These can be set 100mV or 1V for the stereo RCAs. Message player contacts are provided via pluggable screw terminals. 24V DC operation from the included power supply or battery backup.

The A 4433 wall plate allows remote selection of the A 4432s input audio source and volume level. Redback 4+4 Channel Public Address Mixer :: A4432

Designed in conjunction with pro-sound contractors, the A 4432 is a stand alone 8 input mixer with 5 channels which provides a flexible way to bring multiple audio sources together. It combines many of the best features from our popular mixer and signal processing range into one compact unit. Inputs 1 to 4 can be configured for either mic or line use. Mic inputs are 5 pin euro block including PTT contacts. Line level is via RCA. Input 5 consists of 4 line level RCAs which are selectable from the front panel. With the addition of the selection wallplate, input 5 sources can be selected and adjusted remotely. A local input plate (A4931) can be connected to the selection wallplate (A4433) offering additional flexibility within the zone. Inputs from A4931 will automatically mute input 5 sources.

Tone Generator Operation.
Tones, chimes and pre-recorded messages are played from the micro SD card which plugs into the rear panel of the mixer. Individual level controls are provided for alert/evac, chime and voice over. All of these can be triggered by closing contacts such as switches, from Fire Indicator Boards (FIB) or any other remote contact source.

4 Channel Public Address (PA) Mixer With Bass And Treble

The Redback® A 4422 4 channel mixer has been designed to meet the requirements of professional public address installations. It is ideally suited for use in shopping centres, gymnasiums, places of worship, court rooms etc.

Inputs and Outputs
The A 4422 is a 4 channel mixer with all inputs configurable for Balanced Mic or Line level input. The line level inputs are dual RCA’s with DIP switch adjustable input sensitivity, and are internally mixed to give a mono signal. The balanced mic inputs are connected via 3 way euro blocks and have DIP switch selectable input sensitivity and selectable phantom power of 15V DC . A 1V balanced output is provided via euro blocks.

Front Panel Controls
The front panel includes individual volume controls and tamper proof, screw driver adjust, treble and bass controls for each input channel.

Priority and Muting
There are two levels of priority/VOX muting. Inputs 1 and 2 will operate the priority/VOX muting regardless of the input configuration. (ie: both the microphone and line inputs will operate the priority/VOX circuit if this function is selected “ON” for that input). This is particularly useful when an input is set for line use, as it enables telephone paging, radio
microphones, emergency tones or similar to mute background music on other inputs.

The priorities operate as follows.
Input 1: Priority 1 - mutes inputs 2-4
Input 2: Priority 2 - mutes inputs 3-4
Adjustable VOX muting sensitivity

The VOX muting on inputs 1 and 2 have adjustable sensitivities which are adjusted via the trimpots on the front panel.

4 Channel Stereo Mixer

Designed to meet the growing demands of PA systems utilising high power stereo amplifiers, it features 2 balanced microphone (3 pin XLR) and 2 auxiliary inputs (stereo RCA &.5mm jack). Balanced 3 pin XLR outputs for left and right are provided along with standard stereo RCA. Perfect for fitness centres, bars, bistros and sporting clubs. Two sets of tone controls are provided; one for the microphone inputs and one for the auxiliary inputs. Variable mute adjustment is provided for the microphones. This enables each microphone to partially or fully mute the auxiliary inputs as desired. Master volume is provided on the rear panel.

A dedicated "sub" output is provided to send to an active subwoofer. Ideal for gyms, clubs etc. A remote A4931 input plate can be connected, when used, this will mute auxiliary 1 and 2.

Inputs: Each microphone input incorporates a 3 pin balanced XLR socket on the rear panel with 15V DC phantom powering. An additional 6.35mm socket is provided on the front panel for input 1. Auxiliary inputs are stereo and use dual RCA sockets. A 3.5mm stereo jack socket (Music Input) is also provided for auxiliary input 1 on the front panel, suitable for the output of an MP3 player or similar.

Outputs: RCA sockets are provided for left and right line level and 3 pin XLR sockets for left and right 600O balanced outputs. Variable mute adjustment is provided for the microphones. This enables the microphone inputs to partially or fully mute the auxiliary inputs as desired.
