Designed specifically for lead free soldering applications as a result of the introduction of the RoHS green standard. Lead free solder requires a much higher tip temperature than traditional lead type solder. The T 2380 utilises a high power transformer for much higher tip temperatures from 250°C to 500°C, it is also equipped with the latest lead free compatible Japanese made tips. Its power saving mode increases tip life dramatically by cutting the tip temperature to half after 15 minutes of idle. This reduces power consumption and tip wear. The inbuilt high quality Nichrome heating element allows rapid tip heat recovery and temperature consistency. For SMD soldering the optional T 2381 tweezer handle, equipped with SMD tips, can be plugged into the station. Beware of other units which may look the same but are NOT SUITABLE for lead free soldering.
